General information only
All content published on directmeadow.com is provided for general information and educational purposes. It reflects widely available horticultural guidance and our own editorial judgement. It is not professional agronomy, soil-science, landscaping, arboricultural or legal advice, and it is not tailored to the conditions of any particular property.
Results vary, and no outcome is promised
Grass is a living plant responding to soil composition, drainage, compaction, pH, light, temperature, rainfall, grass species, wear and time. Two lawns on the same street can behave differently. Timings, heights, rates and ranges given on this site are starting points drawn from common practice, not guarantees. Nothing on this website should be read as a promise that a specific approach will produce a specific result in your garden.
Products, treatments and labels
Where we mention categories of product — seed mixes, fertilisers, soil amendments, weed treatments, tools or an App used for garden planning — we are describing them generally. We do not sell them, and a mention is not a recommendation of any particular brand. Always read and follow the manufacturer's label. The label is a legal document and it takes precedence over anything written here.
Local rules and regulations
Fertiliser use, irrigation, water restrictions, chemical treatments, burning, tree work and drainage alterations are regulated differently from state to state and often from county to county. Some jurisdictions restrict phosphorus applications or set seasonal blackout dates. It is your responsibility to check and comply with the rules that apply where you live.
Safety
Lawn maintenance involves powered machinery, sharp blades, chemicals and sometimes uneven ground. Follow the safety instructions supplied with your equipment, wear appropriate protection, and keep children and pets away from treated areas for the period stated on the label. Do not attempt work involving slopes, retaining structures, mature or protected trees, buried services or standing water without qualified assistance.
When to consult a professional
For decisions that affect drainage, grading, structures, protected trees or significant expenditure, consult your local cooperative extension service or a qualified professional who can inspect the site in person. Extension services are generally low-cost or free and are one of the most reliable regional resources available to US home gardeners.
